Reiki is a Japanese technique for reducing stress while promoting relaxation and healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s wisdom or the higher power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is literally “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic practices to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
Tiffany Johns-McDonald is trained to Level 2 Reiki. She can integrate the Reiki technique with a massage treatment if the client desires it.
Because of the spiritual nature involved with Reiki, if we think the technique would be useful for a client, we discuss it with the client first. If the client is interested, then we include Reiki in our treatment efforts. When people do feel open to the idea Reiki, they often comment afterward: “I don’t know what you did differently, but I feel a lot more at peace.”
If you’re interested in Reiki, please give us a call or ask us at your next session to learn more about what the technique may be able to do for you.
